Are you a student or do you advocate for young people? Great. You just got plans for Saturday. M.E.S.S. (Media Empowerment Student Summit) connects youth voice, youth power, and youth-adult relationships. The goal is to empower youth in Greater Pittsburgh in a day of workshops, idea-sharing, and problem-solving.
The event is FREE and open to all students 13-20 y.o and adult allies. It's this Saturday (the 7th) on Carnegie Mellon's Campus in Newell-Simon Hall. Things kick off at 8:30 am and wrap up at 4pm. Come and stay for the whole day or drop in and out based on your interest or availability. Check out the schedule to see what kind workshops the day holds.
M.E.S.S. uses the context of media creation, practice and collaboration to make space for students to talk about and address issues that they care about. During the afternoon, youth can connect with regional resource providers at the Resource Fair after eating lunch.
Also, if you are a student who would love to join but transportation is an issue just reach out through the website's contact page. They want you there. We want you there. Pittsburgh wants you there.
